Butterflies for Tara Kaitlee

My name is Melanie. With the help of my mother-in-law, Josephine, we have started a butterfly project as a means of mental health awareness and in memory of those who have lost the battle due to mental health illness. After losing my baby sister in 10/2021, I wanted to start something in her memory to do on her birthday. I thought long and hard and couldn't come up with anything. My mother in law actually thought of the project and we've been going hard to make it a reality. She started sewing fabric origami butterflies. I attach a tag with an inspirational quote along with the crisis hotline number, and we send them out on their flight. So far, we have over 2,500 butterflies throughout THE WORLD! This is not just in the USA! We have sent some to Europe, Africa, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and most states within the US. Unfortunately, I haven’t shipped any in quite some time. It became too expensive, life became overwhelming, my mental health spiraled, and unfortunately it got put on the back burner. Now that my mental health has improved , I’m committed to making this happen. I need to figure out how to make it where this mission can support itself financially. It’s a work in progress!
Much love,
Melanie
